Edmonds Coho Derby!!!!

I wanted to give this day a 5 cuz it was satisfying, but what an absolute grind to limit out!!

Had some epic takedowns and heavy head shakes early on, but only put one fish in the boat by 11:50 AM. Fish took a Yamashita Candlefish 30 inches behind a standard flashy thingy. Lost a seven pounder boat side. It hit hard enough to bust a transom weld.

Kept fishing and got a stinky pinky. They taste better than they smell. Well as long as they’re cleaned well. And regularly.

Hit that noon biter with 100 feet of wire going 5 mph. Spoon. 42” lead. That’s three.

Milled around in some confidence areas. Nothing. 2:00 pm and three fish. Brian made a nest cuz we were laying an egg (aka he took a nap out of sheer boredom). Started getting shakers-looks like a little window just opened.

Put a spoon on both rods, returned to noon spot. It’s now 2:30 pm. 100 feet for both cables, 5 mph again. Instant shaker. Released. Then BOOM! Huge strike and hookup!! I speed up to 6 mph, we let the fish thrash it’s way to the surface without having to reel much at all. We play it out at distance, because this particular setup was on 50lb braid, no snubber or shock leader.

Five minutes later, it slides into the net after a well executed battle from a less than experienced fisherman. Good work Brian!! Got em!!!
