Well I don't know what I'm doing wrong but at a bare minimum you would have to say that at the very least I must be holding my mouth wrong. Encouraged by WalleyMark's report I headed for Porcupine and the Upper Arm. Got to Porcupine at a decent time only to find that they had closed it the previous day, maybe I should have taken that as a sign. Back up the road and over to Ft. Spokane then up to Porcupine. Picked up a really decent 21" Eye over by Blue Creek but that was only bite we had. Moved up to the narrows and got pecked to death by little Small Mouth. Moved up to the Buoy 5 area and dropped in and started to get some hits right away. Put in a couple of decent eaters and thought we were going to turn things around and the bite STOPPED. Hung around for another hour or so and only had one more fish so decided to call it a good day on the water and head back. It was nice all day and not too many boats. I guess next time will be my day.

Sorry to read of the tough go Mark, but you put some in the cooler and it was a nice day to be out. Water sure looked inviting Wednesday...

It was in fact a very nice day on the water, almost no wind, not too hot, good to be out there. Still plenty of water also which meant no problem going past buoy 5. I've been out a few other times that I haven't reported but they have been more just boating than fishing. The wife really enjoys the new boat.

The weed beds have been primarily only producing for a short time at first light; then the bite stops for good. Silver blades with green beads have been the most productive for me the last two weekends. Probably looks an awful lot like a baby perch. My troll speed has been 1.2 to 1.3. Last weekend I moved around a lot to find the fish we caught; revisiting a couple of areas more than once throughout the day.

Thanks Mark. Mostly we bottom bounced and 30 to 35 FOW seemed to be the best but given the limited amount of time we had a bite I couldn't really call anything successful. Guess I may need to increase my bait/lure setups. For the most part I use a worm on a Super Death hook about a foot behind a smiley blade and a chartreuse pill. Most of our bites were right close to the bottom. Haven't ever deliberately targeted weed beds. Need to expand my methods of attack.
