Pulled the boat over to Rock on Saturday. Met my brother and his son (and their two gun-dog pups), loaded everyone in the boat just after noon, and headed for the north end.
It was their first time on Rock and they enjoyed it! We started with a 2.8 OG1 in perch on the downrigger, a 2.44" OG1 in black/orange tail on a small dipsy diver and the middle rod, and, a 2.44" OG1 orange-perch on the other side of the boat. (We trolled the orange perch near the surface with a 3/4 ounce crescent weight.) On the downrigger, we continued to experiment with different depths.
At the end of the outing, they both had their limits. All told, we had eight rainbow, a brown, and a kokanee. (The kokanee surprised us. We picked it up in front of the mouth of the stream that enters at the north end.)
We kept the trolling speed around 2.5mph. And, we experimented with several other lure colors. They all caught fish. The kokanee was taken on the 2.8" perch OG1.
Enjoyed fresh trout for dinner and sent them home with the remainder frozen for future meals!
