We fished the morning hours on the North confluence of Lake Roosevelt with great success today. We fished North and South of Gifford Ferry. I found all of the Trout today 20'-30' below the surface of the water feeding on large clouds of Plankton, trolling with downriggers. We ended up with a limit of Rainbow Trout by 1:00 pm. The fish today hit on Old Goat Lures & Wedding Rings with no dodgers or flashers. For whatever reason the fish would not hit with a dodger or flasher. We had 2 flat lines with red & orange Wedding rings and on the downriggers we had old goat lures green and orange.
I also marked many Kokanee today on the fish locator deeper than the Trout. I threw everything I could at them with no luck on the silver footballs. Hopefully in the next month with cooler temps they will start biting again up North.
Big Thanks to Old Goat Lures for sending me a variety of their lures to try late, last season. They will definitely be put to use in my tackle box in the future. Good Luck & Good Fishing Everyone!!!
