With the lower river slowing down I went and poked around upriver where I heard there were fish. Saw a handful of fish rolling and jumping in this new stretch of water. I beat brush down to the river and within two casts I landed a small blushed up jack. A few casts later I landed a borderline 50.8cm colored up doe. She had some very mature skeins. I missed a rod bending bite on the very next cast after rebaiting and then had my leader snap on the hook set of another bite. After retying I quickly hooked and landed a blushed up buck right at 53.34cm. Right after I landed that fish the bite died. Fish were rolling and jumping periodically but they just weren't biting.
