Drift Fishing
Coho Salmon
Morning

Hit the river this morning right around 8:30am. Water was high and dirty but I decided to try anyways. I hooked and landed three coho within a dozen casts, only one was an adult. There were a few flurries of other bites but I wasn't able to hook up. Fished until 10 without any more action.

Dude you always find a way to make it happen. Congrats man! Drifting eggs again? How much lead did you have to use? What section of river was this? Flows are running pretty fast still. You must have been right on the bank catching these :) Some nice bright fish should be all throughout the system now. Good haul and sounds like some good fishing!

I only used about half an ounce. I was kinda drift fishing/plunking as I let the eggs sit after it stopped swinging,. That's when I got the bites. Later on I went squidding at Seacrest and I noticed that the water wasn't cloudy like it usually is after a period of rain. There were a bunch of gillnetters out in the bay so that must mean the chum are in.

Do you know of a good spot for chum on the green river...if the river flow ever slows down lol

Oh wow! Nice! Must have been some pretty soft water on the edges. Love that bottom of the drift bite...Seems like that's where I've gotten a lot of bites on eggs this season.

Sometimes I think all these posts are the same fish arranged in 90 different photos to throw people off the scent lol
3 fish in 12 casts, 2 star day! :-P The frustration of other anglers must be tasty haha

The report kinda does read like it was 3 fish in 12 quick casts but that wasn't the case. I was kinda drifting then plunking as I let the eggs sit at the end of the drift. Boring way to fish in my opinion but the conditions weren't right for freedrifting.

How was Seacreast for squiding? I was across the bay on the Seattle water front. Got a limit in about 2 1/2 hours, but not many big ones yet. Awesome job on the Green, I was thinking of checking it out tomorrow morning since no work. Any suggestions on a section of the river to check out??

I didn't stay too long, it was windy and slow so I left at around 8:30pm. There was a harbor seal there chasing squid on the surface. I heard about an hour later the squid showed up and there was a bunch caught, like you observed there weren't many big ones. Concerning the Green, hit the parks and holes down river from I-5. I should've included a picture that my friend took when he came by to chat and walk his dog yesterday morning. Water was high and a little dirty but was no way blown out puking mud and trees.

Oh really, down river from I-5??? I like fishing down there more then up in Kent and above I just didn't think there was any fish still down that low.

Try plunkin during the higher flows...Can even plunk a spinner if you wanted to.
