Sorry, report is for last week.
Perch fishing has been hot all summer, fall, and now winter. So far, the fishes are exactly where they were in summer, just deeper, in the 50'-65' range. They are moving around quite a bit in schools that come and go, taking up most of the water column (not just on the bottom). Even though there are big moving schools, there are also scattered fish to pick up. Using spot lock to stay in one place, but could drift.
Dropshotting worms on 1/16th ounce jigs to catch them until we get a smaller sacrifice to the fishing Gods to use for bait. Color of jig doesn't seem to matter. Having cut myself several weeks in a row cutting up bait, I now fillet one side, then use shears to cut up the meat for bait. This also allows me to use smaller pieces than are handy to cut with a knife.
Get to the lake at about 6 am to avoid traffic, then have an hour wait until light. Cruise to the fishing spot and have as many as I want to clean by mid-morning. Not keeping anything under 9 1/4"-9 1/2", and throwing the rest back. Usually have a few 12 inchers in the livewell by the time I'm ready to leave.
