Went and fished several spots below the town of Touchet on the Walla Walla today with my son and his friend. We didn't see any fish but it turned out to be a really nice day of fishing, weather was pleasant for this time of year. There is some volume, about 300 cfs, about 40 deg, and quite clear. The rains last night really didn't amount to anything, but it started raining good again this afternoon. Hopefully we'll get some colored flow to bring the fish in. Tough to get around along the banks in places, but pretty easy fishing, only wading to my shins in places.
My son bought a fly outfit so we threw egg sucking leaches for a while as he learned to cast. He did well, we'd been to the park the day before.
The boys then switched to bobber and shrimp rigs drifting all the possible spots. I worked ahead or behind with spoons and spinners. The water looked great just no fish yet I guess.
