Went to Dayton in Columbia County and fished the main stem of the Touchet River this morning between the highway 12 bridge and the confluence near 4th st.. The water is really low, about 75cfs. The temp was 39 degrees and visibility was crystal clear. Kept it simple, just a rod and small box of spoons. It was all I needed to catch and release several rainbow trout. Representative photo of a small one of them, just wanted to get the rest back in quickly. Real fish are so much prettier than hatchery stockers. Lots of wildlife: beaver, hawks, owls, deer and coyotes. I did spook one steelhead (big fish anyways) in the shallow water. It did start to rain last night and is supposed to rain on and off for several days. Hopefully this will bring some fish in out of the Columbia, we haven't had a push of water this fall/winter.
