Launched at Keller on Jan 3rd and had our lines in the water shortly after 8am. Initially we trolled downstream towards the cliffs south of the launch. I ran 3 lines on the surface with planers and 3 on the downriggers. I kept the depth between 20ft and the surface. It took 30 minutes to get the first fish which was a very nice native rainbow. The next fish came shortly after and was a keeper bow. The 3rd fish was a nice 18 inch Kokanee. These fist three fish were caught on the side planers. I was using Kokabow blades on all my set ups with pink corn and various spinners and hoochies. I also had ordered for the first time some Old Goat Lures 2.44 inch in pink and orange and gave them a try on two of the planer rods. The OGL did awesome accounting for more than half of the fish we landed that day. Halfway through the day, I hadn't got a bite on the downriggers so I decided to change my set backs to 100 ft behind the boat. It definitely worked as we caught 4-5 fish on the riggers after that. We ended the day a 3pm with 6 keeper bows and 3 great Kokanee. We also released around 8 unclipped rainbows. It was an awesome day with friends and my boys.
