I saw a small break in the rain and decided to get the boat out of the garage and head south to Merwin. This was my 2nd trip ever to the lake and first trip for winter kokanee. As we headed south we ran into a light dusting of snow that came in over night. We arrived at the ramp and about 8:30 in the morning. The bite was tough in the morning for us. We were fishing the middle of the lake and managed to hook 2 fish. We decided to head toward the dam. We dropped or first line and before we could get the 2nd rod out we had a fish on. The action picked up for us around 2 in the afternoon. We hooked 17 fish and landed 11. All the fish were caught between the surface and 25 ft, with majority of our fish hooked between 12 and 17ft. It was a great day spent with my buddy and had some nice fillets to take home.

Wow! I would call that a 5 star day myself! Congrats! I bet you froze your tootsies off though with the snow, how were the road conditions?

Thanks, we had fun. Wish the lake was a little closer. The road was a bit icy in the morning but staying at the speed limit we were fine. All theice and snow had melted by the time we left!
