Great day of fishing on Sammamish on Tuesday. Sure was nice to finally get out of Covid jail. Beautiful day and a lot of folks out there.

Good news is there seem to be a lot of fish in the lake, bad news is they seem to really be scattered and not very hungry. We had to fish a lot of water. Managed to get some nice fish to the net but the nicest one of the day went home with an eagle. Caught some, lost some, C&R some and took a few home. Had a ton of drivebys!!!

Fish were at 20 feet +/- on the cable. 100-50 ft back, 1.75-1.95mph. Most consistent set up again was brass blade spinner with green body, short leader, sling blade and slow death hook with worm chunk. Tried a bunch of different setups but this one has just been a consistent winner for Lk Samm cutties.

The encounter with the eagle was amazing. Nice fish about 50 feet back coming to the net, and eagle came down like a missile. Slammed the brakes on, wings spread and talons out grabbed the fish and took off. Only problem was I was still hooked up. Just about got spooled before the line snapped. Very cool. Sometimes its about more than fish in the box.

Tight lines
