Got out to the mouth of the Kettle River with my 1 year old boy to try and catch some fish now that it is "legal"...
I tried fishing on Tuesday, which was "opening day" according to supreme leader Inslee, but had no luck. However, I took note and noticed that I was fishing on the left side of the mouth, which was super murky due to the high output of water from the Kettle, but a fellow on the right side had caught about 4 while I was striking out.
On Friday, I decided to try the right side of the mouth and actually caught a couple. I probably would've caught a few more but the little guy was getting ornery/bored. (Pretty soon he'll be out-fishing me though.) The bite was pretty consistent, and I bet you'd be able to catch a stringer full. I had 6-7 bites in about an hour but only manage one Walleye and one Burbot. They both made a great meal though.
I'll be excited for camping to open up here soon to go after some Spring Smallmouth. Just need emperor Inslee to allow it first.
Good luck to everyone else out there. Hope you're as happy as I am now that fishing is open.
