Perfect first trip of the year. Great weather, no mishaps or equipment issues, and the fish were cooperative. Picked up 2 trout and a nice fatty 2lb kokanee for 5lbs total. Previoulsy, in the fall, our best luck has been around the Willow Bay area. This time however there was nothing there. Nothing on the finder, no bites. We continued downstream stopping here and there and picked one up in a bay (hot spot included) and finally 2 more, including the Kokanee, down by the dam. Worms were not to be found as they had all been purchased everywhere we tried so it was a Corn and ProCure Anise day, and it worked fine.

Nice koke and an elusive fin clipped one no less! Looks like a great day on the water. :-)

I looked at these fish and you fillets very closely. I think your two red-meated fish are both kokes. One with adipose fin (wild) and one without it, truly a rare hatchery Koke. In any case Nice Job!.

I want to agree that there are 2 kokes but the top 1 in the pic with all 3 has the rainbow stub noes. The top and bottom I think are rainbows! Just my guess tho!

Great looking fish, but where did you launch at ? . Just wondering what kind of shape it was in.

Enlarge the fish pics. There are two rainbows, top and bottom, and one kokanee, middle. If you look closely you can see the spots on the bodies and the tails on both rainbows, there are none on the kokanee which is correct. Also, the top rainbow is a native and I'll bet it was the one with pale flesh. Before native trout retention on Roosevelt was banned, the native fish always had lighter color flesh than the triploids.

I've added 2 more photos of the heads and tails. It's definitely just 1 koke in the middle. If the head shot doesn't convince you, the tail shot will. This isn't the first time I've caught a mixed bunch in this lake on previous trips, but opinions on the others were more varied than on this bunch.

Either way, I blackened, breaded and fried these up to a crisp perfection with some yellow rice and candied carrots. 5 star reviews all around.
