Cutthroat fishing right now on Sammamish is about as good as it gets anywhere!

It took us a while to find the magic but once we did it was non stop action. Lots of good solid hookups and finally got limits to the boat. Kept the 5 in the pic C&R the rest. This lake is just loaded with quality fish. The secret is to find them. Just because they were at the weather buoy one day doesnt mean they will be there the next.

TWT was up about 5 degrees from a week ago and fish were about 10 feet deeper (30 on the cable). The hot setup was the simple brass spinner shown in the pic, behind a custom bent sling blade, 12 inch leader and slow death hook with worm chunk. Speed 1.95-2.25.

I marked a couple hot spots, those aren't the hot spots. The area between the marks was the hot area. Thats where they were Weds. Tomorrow who knows.

For any Crappie fishermen out there we saw some nice stringers full of Crappie. Launch area and sunken forest seem to be the hot spots. I dont know anything about Crappie but they sure are pretty and I bet they look even prettier in the frying pan.

Tight lines
Randy

Nice work!!! We went out on Saturday morning and found some willing bitters near Idylewood park.. got out limit and out of there before 11AM... Is the sling blade modified to plane to one side, away from the boat? or are the holes to change the action? I have watched some underwater footage of the DD dodgers that are set to plain all the way out to away from the boat... Its a great concept and gets the gear away from the other lines to eliminate tangles, but it greatly changes the action of the lure...

Both. The idea was to modify the sling blade to get it off to the side and see if I could change the action. Worked great with just the custom bend and the front hole. Didnt get a chance to try the offset holes. Next time.

Mine runs directly behind the boat - have one exactly as pictured. Great because it runs well at all speeds unlike a dodger. Never use a dodger now that I have sling blades. It's all about matching your gear to the speed you troll so you need to look at the gear and adjust speed to the best action.

whats the purpose of the different holes?

Well I was trying to copy the DD dodgers that go out to one side of the boat and see if I could put a different action on it.. Didnt get a chance to try the offset holes because it worked very well with just the nose hoe and the "custom" bend.

Thanks Russ, headed for Lk Stevens on Tuesday. Have the Gods Tooth spoons all ready to go. They have been waiting for their turn way to long.

Glad you got out there Randy and thanks for the report! Got a last minute invite yesterday in the afternoon to help a buddy break in his brand new boat and we found them more around the corner and down the middle of the lake heading back south. 27-32 feet was the hot area for us!

Hey Barry, a buddy was out there today and couldn't buy a bite in the area that was hot for us last week. He went down to the area where you were, around the corner out in the middle, and it was booyah time. They are where they are.
