My buddy and I decided to wet the lines and ourselves today. Hit the state ramp at 8:30 a.m. and it was spitting rain. By 11 a.m. it turned nice. Fished till 4 pm in front of launch and Medicare beach. Landed seven rainbows and 3 nice smallmouth. Smallmouth got to live another day. 4 lg rainbows 3.5 to 6 lbs. 3 smaller ones as well. Fished over an avg. of 25 ft. Fish were in the upper 15 ft. Used assorted lures of mag lips and flicker shads. Bite was off and on for the day. What a lake for big bows!

Nice catch, how are those potholes rainbows for eating compared with say Lake Roosevelt rainbows?

Nothing is as good as Roosevelt trout IMHO. However, those rainbows were in good shape. Cut red. Not muddy taste yet. That’ll change soon.
