We fished a few hours each day 6/8/20-6/11/20, and caught lots of rainbow trout. Weather was not very good - rather chilly and rainy for June. I fished for a very short while from the dock at the state park and caught one small rainbow, the rest were all caught from the boat. I tried trolling with wedding rings tipped with nightcrawlers and got a couple hits, but the fish were almost all caught using a jig & nightcrawler on a bobber stop, a hook & nightcrawler about 2 feet off the bottom using a drop shot rig, or by actively jigging with nightcrawlers. We easily got our limit the first two days, some fairly decent sized 'bows too. Once we had enough trout for cooking & smoking, we started targeting perch using the same techniques, but fishing closer to shore and mostly close to the bottom. We didn't fish for perch a huge amount, as we took side trips to Bonaparte Lake (report posted there). Still, we came home with filets from about a dozen perch to go with the trout (and kokanee from Bonaparte). It was a fun trip.

BTW, I saw a pair of loons on Curlew, which was a surprise. I didn't see a nest, but the last morning I did see them in flight over the lake, so maybe they were visiting from another lake.
