Had to go back for some more monster Kokanee action. Water temps were in the mid-50's and air temps not much warmer. Such a strange Juneuary we are having. Fish were still feeding on the surface. Pink and/or silver dodgers worked best along with pink hoochies or flies.

I've made several more trips since and the bite is slowing down quite a bit. Surface temps have jumped another 5 degrees and I suspect fish will be moving deeper and back up lake towards Keller's as summer roars back.

Another excellent report, and spot on about not trolling in straight lines which applies to rainbow as well. :-)

I completely agee with your theory about turning. I use that technique any time I am trolling for all species of fish. In the words of the infamous Mr Bill Herzog "don't be a lazy troller". https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/video/bill-herzog-interview-and-kokanee-tips

Bill Herzog is the spoon fishing master. I love his books.

Just curious, why do you keep the tip of the pole in the water? Is there science behind that?

It helps to keep them from jumping and throwing the hook.

Where is the bite happening at Lake Roosevelt? I am new to the fishing world. I am struggling to find the good bite on Lake Roosevelt. Been to Hunters and Seven Bay. Have gotten a few rainbows and one silver. Any help would be much appreciated!
