It was a bit of a tough morning on Sammamish. The fish were all shallow today. I got 2 small cutthroat north of the weather bouy and pretty close to shore on a green cripplure almost right away, and thought it was going to be a hot day of fishing, but then it just died. I trolled all around for a couple hours and had a couple big hits that popped the clip on a green wiggle hoochie, but the fish were gone before I ever got to the pole. I switched out to a white wiggle hoochie and had a solid hit while I was putting the line into the downrigger clip. I ended up getting that fish to the boat and it was about 18". It's stomach was completely full with tiny shrimp and 2 smolts about the size of my thumb.

Did you only mark fish at shallow depths all day? Did you try 20' to 40' at all or later in the day?

I did occasionally mark fish deeper, and tried trolling deeper, as well, but no strikes down there. 25' is usually the magic number on Sammamish, but not yesterday. The cutthroat on that lake are moody. It seems like nothing ever works 2 trips in a row on that lake.

Wasn't the barometric pressure low on Sunday? I always find the fishing tough on Sammamish when it's like that.
