Had a solid morning on the big lake targeting Kokanee. Launched @ 5:30 AM out of Coulon and headed up the west side of Mercer Island. Found a large school of Kokes fairly quickly and put a 5 fish limit in the boat in about 45 min. Very respectable fish in the 13" - 15" range.

Brads mini cut plug stuffed with tuna and tipped with cured corn and a chartreuse Berkley power maggot behind a dodger got the job done. Fish were from the surface all the way down to 60' on the wire in 75' - 125' of water. Trolling speed was 1.2 - 1.4 and frequent turns seem to really trigger these fish.

This was a really big school of fish that was probably 150 yards long and 50+ yards wide. It's encouraging to see so many fish out there in a few different locations. So far I have found large schools in multiple locations in the north end, and the south end of the lake.

I hope it's not just an anomaly and we can have consistent Lake WA Kokanee fishing for years to come. "Back yard" fishing is sometimes the best.

@snowdog- actually the kokanee have been out producing the cuttrhoats for me out there for the last 3 or 4 years ever since they upped the maximum size limit to 18"! That school you saw was probably sockeye as I had my Gofish camera on today and filmed a huge school of sockeye on my lead core which probably was only down about 25'!
