Had a fun morning on the water with my youngest son. Fished the deep water between the north end of Mercer Island and Medina. All the fish were shallow today. When we pulled up to start fishing, I noticed several fish feeding on the surface, so we put the gear back 125' and 10' on the wire. Trolled 1.2 to 1.4 mph with BMCP and wiggle hootchies behind Brad's dodgers. I played around with the bait today and fished one rod with just corn, and the other with just Berkley maggots. We did notice much of a difference between the two rods, but like the other mornings, the cutthroat are going for the BCMP stuffed with "hot tuna"
I started mixing up what I call "hot tuna" to use with the BCMP's. Its a can of tuna in water, sodium sulfite bite enhancer, powdered krill, powdered bloody tuna, anise oil, and shrimp oil. Another thing I started doing was putting a scent holder 24" above the dodger and loading it with Pro-Cure Kokanee Special gel and Krill Oil. Not sure if this is helping, but I know it can't hurt . Just worried the coastguard will track me down by the big oil slick I create across the lake....
Almost time to switch gears for Area 9 kings, but it sure is nice to have quality Kokanee so close to home in the big lake.
