So finally got a break in the weather and work to make it out today on Lake WA before the "jet ski hatch" LOL! Arrived at Coulon at 5:45 and soon was motoring over towards Mercer island with an opening set up of an Elgins God's tooth spoon in rainbow pattern with arrow flash dodger tipped with corn.

Put out the lead core to start the day since I figured there were be some surface feeders and not 5 minutes into my troll the rod starts bucking and it's fish on! It's a scrappy kokanee that makes some runs before succumbing to my waiting net! Yes skunk is off the boat! Freshened it back up and back out it goes.

Well as fishing goes, don't get too excited when you get bit first thing out because that usually means you are in for a long day haha! After a few more passes and marking some nice fish down in the 45 feet range decide to switch to my downrigger. Marked ton of fish along the west side of Mercer island but still no love. Decide to go back to the lead core and this time put back on the brad's mini cut plug but stuff it with tuna like I have read Snowdog has been doing to see how that works. Haven't really done that with the mini's but was cool to try as I had some tuna mixture left over from my last batch of corn and it was soaked in garlic bloody tuna oil.

No sooner did I get it back when WHAM! Rod is bucking and peeling line and I see a big splash 100 feet behind the boat and the fight it on! After some pretty cool runs finally get it close to the net and it's a chunky 17"+ cutty that is over the rail and into the pail! Put it on the stringer and rip its gills to bleed and set back the same set up again this time with the GoFish camera attached- not too long I get a drive-by and after viewing the footage, I should have just left it back there but was afraid my bait was gone. After view it I realized he came back a few more times and even hit the camera! Not sure how to upload those here but will put the footage on the facebook page.

After baiting up set it back just to have the same thing happen with fish hitting the camera and another drive by- soon I take the camera off and not too long get another fish on that is screaming line off the lead core! Looks like another really nice cutthroat but when it's about 15 feet from the boat does a head turn and off it swims away from my lure and it's hooks! Darn!

Pretty much the same routine as I pass the corner and head down by the Allen's residence with losing 2 more fish and boating 1 more kokanee before the waters starts buzzing with the jet skiers, water skiers and pleasure boaters heading out for a 4th on the water. Trolling motor started sputtering so figured it was a good time to quit and was back to the launch at 11:30 before it got too crazy.. So 3 for 6 today but just enough to keep to eat so was pleased and turns out it was just a fouled spark plug on the 4 stroke when I got back home to find out what was wrong with Yamaha. Happy 4th to all and see you on the water!
