An Epic Trip with no fish...

My son James and I decided to do an overnight trip to fish Area 7 chinook opener. We drove to Cornet Bay and moored on one of the state park floating docks. That in itself was worth the trip as we relaxed and headed off to bed. 2;30am I was awakened by the sound of an approaching boat. It was rseas and along with him Jeff Reynolds from the web site.

The plan was to follow Randy into the dark and he would guide us to our fishing grounds, Eagle Poibt, 19 moles away. I had total confidence in rseas. He has a 21 foot thunderjet with radar. Just the same, I was very happy when daylight broke so I could see the 5 foot waves we were driving into.

Safely past Rosario straights we made good time to Eagle Point. There were a few other boats as we dropped our gear down, chasing fish marks. In short order a mark obliged and it was "fish on" and then, off. Reeling in to my surprise I found the leader had broke, 30 pound test. Frayed line? Hard to say, but it sure was disappointing.

We fished Eagle Point for an hour or so and saw one caught. Meanwhile, raeas checked in with two gish at Open Bay, 10 moles away. With flat water I decided to run us down there where we fished until 2:30, and had no bites. That's fishing!

The run back was smooth and quick. James got to see his first ever humpback whale and a pod of orcas, so he was pretty excited.
