Tough opener in area 9 for me. Fished 5 am to noon. Started at tin shed, then west possession, double bluff, point not point, and last east possession on the way home. Looked shallow and deep. Plugs, spoons, hoochies, flashers, jigging. Found some bait in places but very few arcs on the screen. No kings.
First time I’ve ever caught rock fish trolling possession.
Best fish was a 24” wild coho - 100’ on the wire out in 450’ of water off the Southeast tip of possession (targeting coho at that point as a Hail Mary). Flasher and ace high fly with herring strip.
Didn’t see many nets out - curious if others had a better area 9 opener.
Sunrise on the water never gets old though.

Fished Point No Point from 0900 to 1600. (Kayak) Dogfish and Flounder. Heard rumors of folks catching early on low tide, but not confirmed.

We got our lines down just after 7 and had some good action right away (just before low slack and around slack), but just shakers and a couple wild Coho (they were also in that 24" range). One released right to the seal that was anxiously waiting for breakfast.
Always a shame having to release a fish you know is just going to die anyway! There were some other nets out, but it was hard to tell if people were catching kings, coho or releasing (looked like at least a few were kept). After that the fog settled in and you could not see much. After the tide shift it was mostly just dogfish, flounder and a couple rock fish (they must be recovering nicely).
