Got out for a bit of Kokanee fun this evening and decided to give Juanita Bay a try. Started fishing at about 6:30 PM and finished up at 8:00 PM going 2 for 5. The fish were out in 135' of water with 60' of wire out. The set-up of choice this evening was a tequila sunrise wiggle hootchie with cured corn and Berkley maggots behind a moon jelly Brad's dodger. I've had most of my luck putting the gear out 125' before I hook it into the downrigger release.

They taste great. I always bleed and gut immediately after catching, then into a cooler on ice. I think that really helps with these fish.

How is it that the launches are open when most of the beaches are closed, and they are closed because of toxin levels? It seems to me if toxin levels are high on the beaches then it's out in the middle as well, how ca it be just confined to the water by the beaches...I've been wanting to go but after see and hearing the beach closure I'll wait for the all clear..

When fishing you are hopefully not swimming in the water. If you swim then you can get it in your mouth or nose, or absorb in through your skin.

Depending on the type of fish you catch, there are recommendations regarding number of fish per month you consume.

If you are fishing 60 feet deep and 125 feet back are you using braid? It would be easy to miss bites if you are using monofiliment.

Hi Ben,

I am using 20# braid for my mainline with a 20' 12# mono bumper. I keep the releases fairly tight and take out as much slack as possible in the line. Most of the fish right now are popping the releases when they are hooked.
