Started the day a little rough. When I got to the launch and started to put the gear into the boat, I realized I didnt have my pack with electronics or the dog's floatation vest. So no graphs, no scale, no paper map, and no remote for trolling motor. Welp, good thing this isnt a brand new lake and have a longline leash still.
First cast at about 8:45AM. Started off with a crankbait on deep docks. This is a new crankbait rod from this year and I still havent caught a fish on it yet. Rotated in with dropshot, swimbait, and t-rig. The t-rig rod is brand new too this year and still no fish on it also.
Found the first bass with the dropshot in I dont know the depth. If I had to guess, somewhere between 15-20' of water. Maybe a little deeper. Was maybe 1#.
There was a very slight breeze that created just enough ripple on the surface without being annoying. Thought it would have been better action with fast action lures but it wasnt.
2nd SMB came on a crankbait on a point. Feels like a pretty nice one. It's staying down. I'm trying to be gentle so I can finally land a fish on this rod. I see it's barely hooked on the outside top lip but it's a nice fish! Slid it right into the net. Without a scale, I'm guessing 2.5#.
Found 2 more ~1# SMB in deepish water. Probably the 15-20' zone too.
Tried the shallows early on without any success. Tried it before I finished up without a bite. All done by 11:45AM. Only 4 SMB today.
