Met my brother at the south end launch of Lake Whatcom to fish kokanee in the Hobie's. I like to get up to Whatcom at least once a year, while the kokanee are small, the action is always good and the south end of the lake is beautiful.

Started our morning at 6 am, fishing 35 - 40ft down. I was using a Elgin Fishing God's tooth spoon in 50/50 brass, 12 inches behind a Dick Nite clown pattern dodger. Lots of action, maybe 8-9 fish on in the first half an hour, but I only landed 2 of them. The action slowed down a bit, so I changed over to the Elgin Fishing fire tiger pattern spoon, and it was right back to getting into fish, just at a slightly slower pace than first thing in the morning. Eventually I wound up dropping down to 75 feet on the downrigger to pick up my last 4 fish

All in all a fun morning, and though the fish are small, they will still smoke up just fine!

Video shows the action from the day.
