When my son woke up from his nap this afternoon it was unexpectedly sunny, and you just can't let that go to waste this time of year, so we hooked up the boat and headed to Meridian, because it's closest. We got on the water around 2:30 I figured I would keep him entertained with some rainbows, but I was surprised to find a kokanee at the end of my line. I know the WDFW stocks kokanee in Meridian, but I have never got one there. I switched both rods to pink hoochies with smile blades and pink gulp maggots and the fishing was really good. I lost a few by letting my son reel the in, but we were out there for him. We still ended up with 5 konanee and 3 rainbows in the boat in just under 2 hours of fishing. 30' on the downrigger was good until the sun started getting lower, then 20' to 25' kept the hits coming.
