What a great day! Got a late start and wound up going by myself because my fishing buddy's knee locked up and he couldn't walk. Some excuse huh? Got my lines out just after 10 and put the first fish in the boat around 10:30 and the last fish at 1:30. The fog was burning off as I boated the first fish and it was sunny with NO wind the rest of the day. Lost 3 and had some drive by hits which kept things interesting. I took a page from Hewesfisher's book and kicked the speed up to around 3 most of the time. My small orange Kekeda tipped with a bit of worm got most of the hits and 4 of the fish in the boat. With the other rod I kept switching things up trying to find something that would work which turned out to be another orange fly similar to the Kekeda. Where is David Browning? It's my last good Kekeda! It was really a nice day. As a bonus I figured out that if you are by yourself you can sing along with the radio on the drive down just as LOUD as you want.
Stay after them, it's the right thing to do.

Good job Mark, wish I could have slipped away, but too short notice for me. I reached out to Dave on the Kekeda's but no word yet. Yesterday his Etsy page shows all flies were sold our but they are available as of this morning, I just ordered 20, so get them while you can. :-)

My Etsy shop has been open for close to a year now. I’ve sent out 8 orders in the past two weeks alone, still very much tying Kekeda flies. The Kekeda pattern I tie is one that I originated and developed over the years. This pattern started for me 20 years ago and I have been selling them since 2013. I’m all for people creating and developing their own fly patterns. I’d even encourage you to buy local flies, but it won’t be a Kekeda.
