Took advantage of the 1 day weather window and spent Veteran's Day on Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park. I probably spent more time watching the NAS Whidbey jets fly overhead than I did watching my lines. I love fishing this lake if for no other reason to enjoy watching the jets.
Cold morning, temps hovering around freezing to start the day. Cranberry can be very weedy in the warmer months, but early spring, and late fall like today, it's not too bad unless you are out in front of the dock. The fish didn't seem to be in that area anyway, so I really didn't have any issues with weeds. I was though only fishing a few feet down.
The hot lure for the morning was the Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoon in 50/50 gold/chrome, set to fast action. Right around 1.5 mph seemed to be the ideal speed this morning.
The action wasn't light's out hot, but once I found the spot on the lake most of the fish seemed to be hanging out, it was constant, steady action with the added bonus of the Whidbey air show to make it just a fantastic morning.
Video shows some of the action from this morning.
