Well I gave it a 3 based on how nice the day was and the good company I had along but it was far short of the 4 I gave my last trip. My grandson Sawyer was home from College in Bozeman and my buddy Wes was done chasing little pointy headed critters around the woods so made for a very good trip. We launched out of Porcupine Bay around 9:30 on a beautiful day with no wind at the moment and really decent temperatures. My beat up old Orange Kekeda wouldn't work for me but a brand new one from David put the first fish in the boat and Sawyer landed it. Good stuff. We had a pretty good bite going around 10:30 to 11:00 and then that went off and it was pretty slow the rest of the day. We marked a lot of fish but had trouble talking them into biting. I have never hooked a Kokanee up there and haven't seen one from the Porcupine area but some of those schools I had on the fish finder looked like Kokanee schools I have marked on Lake CDA. Hmmmm?? We fished from 30 feet up to the surface with a long line rig that produced 2 of our 7 fish boated. We returned a small wild fish so only had 6 between us. I guess it would be unfair for me to expect it to stay as easy as it has been the last few trip. Anytime you can have a sunny day and dry roads in December it can't be all bad.
Stay after them, I know I will.
