Woke up to a cold and foggy December morning and thought I head to American lake to check out the winter trout action and try using a side planer for the first time. I didn't realize they were doing major road construction on veterans drive and lost a half hour in the morning. I ended up launching at the WDFW ramp. I trolled flies and lucky craft minnows. The surface about 150ft back, 15ft down, and about 70ft back on the downrigger seemed produce for me. The bite seemed to turn on as the fog burned off but I had to leave early for an appointment. However, I caught a couple dandy resident cutthroat to end my day. Tight lines!
