Started off great. Had a 50/50 nickel and brass Lurh Jensen dodger and matching God’s Tooth spoon with tuna corn flat lined with 1/2 oz lead going around 1.8 mph. Just as I was getting the other line in (fishing with the significant other) first pole goes off. While reeling in the fish the other line goes off. Didn’t even get to lower the down rigger ball yet. All I could see was the clip dancing in the air. That was on a Arrow flash dodger in nickel and brass with a perch God’s tooth. With my fishing buddy busy, I decided to fight the one I had on already since it felt like a good one. Got it close to the boat and it takes a dive straight down pulling drag. Despite letting it take line it earned its freedom. Sadly the other one got off as well. Reset and spun back around only to get ignored.

Went quiet all of a sudden and started to swap out gear and change bait. Got nothing for a good hour and a half. All these questions start popping up in my mind: should I change speed, rebait, change type of lures, moved to another spot, change trolling depth, etc? Don’t know if it was the change in location or the gear which got the boat fishy however I finally got consistent action with the rigs set up in the pictures. The pink wedding ring with slightly more attention from the crowd. Blue and silver God’s Tooth put in its share of work. Kept a few and released the smaller ones or the ones not allowed for retention. Called it a day with enough for a few meals. One of the things I did notice today was maybe a longer set back helped ~125ft or more and longer leader length at about 16 inches. It also could just be coincidence, who knows?

Good report and nice fish! I prefer longer setbacks in Lake Sammamish too.

Thanks! It took me a few trips to get into some fish.

Thanks for giving the God's tooth some work and for the excellent report! The Firetiger and 50/50 blue patterns seem to be working well as of late. Also, if you had not tried it, fishing just the spoon (right out of the package) without the dodger can work extremely well. Have done well with the Silver Shiner and Red/White patterns before too out there :)

Appreciate the compliments. Fairly new to fishing in the area. Looks like I need to pick up a few more lures :D Got a question if you don’t mind. What speeds would you recommend switch over to the fast action side on the God’s Tooth?

So the fast and slow action settings mean the action speed of the God's Tooth, not the speed being trolled or retrieved. The God's Tooth is set on fast action right out of the package. Fast action means you can troll or cast and retrieve the God's Tooth at a very slow speed and the God's Tooth will be rotating (providing action) at a faster rate than when set on the slow action setting which is a wobble. When trolling at a faster speed and using just the God's Tooth (no dodger), I like to run the God's Tooth on the slow action setting because it provides a fast wobble action. You can certainly run the spoon on fast action as well at fast trolling speeds and the fish will tell you what they want as I have had quite a few occasions where I use the same pattern but the fish will want either the fast or slow action setting! Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the information. For some reason I got it in my head the different actions were for the trolling speeds. I’ve been thinking about them incorrectly this whole time... appreciate the explanation.
