I happened to look and the 5 day forecast and saw that the weather was supposed to be nice, decided to take the day off and go to lake Washington. I have always wanted to try for yellow perch but have never got around to doing it. Well, today was the day. I invited my buddy Warren to join me and we arrived 1st at the ramp at about 8 in the morning. I headed to the south eastside of Mercer island looking for big schools. After motoring around for awhile and not really seeing any big schools on the graph I felt a little discouraged but I did notice a mark here and there on the bottom between 83 and 85 feet. I decided to drop a couple redworms down to investigate, it wasn't long and we had our first yellow perch in the boat. We also tried green night crawlers and fresh perch meat as bait. I found the red worms to be most productive on our trip. We caught all the perch we wanted along with some warmouth, pike minnow, sculpin, and a cutthroat trout. It was a fantastic day on the water with no wind and sunny sky's. I will definitely be returning for more perch action. Tight lines!
