Noticed that the winds yesterday were forecast to be tame: So, we hit Rock Lake again to get another batch of rainbows for the smoker. We arrived a little after 9am, rigged the boat, and were on the north end of the lake a little before 10am.
We trolled with the downriggers as well as trailing a long-line behind the boat with a 1-oz weight. Fished the downriggers with around 20 feet on the cable. I'd estimate that the long-line was running at a depth between 6 and 8 feet. On the downriggers, we fished the fluoro-blue/fluoro-pink OG1 that had been so effective last week. (We fished these behind a flasher.) On the long-line, we fished our 2.44" perch OG1.
Unlike last week, the perch OG1 out-fished everything else! (The other color that was effective was the flouro-green with a pink tail.)
Our trolling speed was just a little over 2mph. And, we found fish both along the basalt walls as well as out in the middle.
Great day on the water!
