Launched at Porcupine Bay. This was the 3rd time out on my new boat. Didn't fish the first two times as I was focused on breaking in the engine. I'm still learning the area, so we fumbled around for hours just experimenting with some jigs and trolling techniques, learning new areas, and generally just having a fun day on the water. We headed upriver to just past Buoy 1 (first green one?), stopping along the way at areas we saw other people fishing. Turned around and did the same all the way back to Ft Spokane. We finally got on some fish just upriver of Ft Spokane along the south shore. We each caught one using bottom bouncers, me with a purple Mack's Double Whammy walleye smile blade and the wife with a Cabela's perch spinning harness. Both were about 14". One was pretty skinny and pale, so we threw it back.
But the best part of the trip was back at the launch where I met WalleyeMark and the gang. They shared some great tips with me that were invaluable. They even shared some gear and some walleye fillets! Thanks, guys. You rock! I can't wait to get back out and try again. Hopefully I'll be more successful next time.
