Took my good friend Steve out for a great day of trout fishing! He used the surface rod and I used the downrigger trying to find the kokanee. Since the trout were on top he had most of the action. I never found the kokanee but did manage 3 trout. The Blue Ice (Kokanee sized 2.0 NTO Scent Spinner, with blue beads and Blue HyperVis tape) was a killer again! (although it is time to re-tie it and sharpen some hooks!)I caught trout on pink as well as the purple and green that has been working well. Another great spring fishing trip.

Enjoy!

Finding the unicorn kokanee has been tough to say the least, rainbows are a dime a dozen and super easy to get, my buddy and I usually spend the first 2 hours kokanee hunting but nothing in 8 trips out there, after 2 hours of nothing we come up to the top 20 ft and slay the bows, usually done in less than a couple hours...8 trips so far , on the water by 7am done no later than 11am even after chasing kokanee for a couple hours...bows easy peasy there

Hey DC, that sounds like a good strategy. I usually get there late so I cannot complain too much. My understanding is that the Kokes on American are an early bird bite. So that may be why I never get them! But it is awful nice to fish the afternoons and still have great success. The trout are really fun and makes it so fun to take people out that don't get a lot of opportunity. Looking forward to taking some grandkids out soon. :) Tight lines!
