I caught a nice kokanee limit on Stevens before 9 AM! I went with a great guide, John Kernaghan. I personally catch a lot of kokanee and feel confident in my skills. However, John is at a whole other level. Think college versus pro. I asked questions all morning about what he was doing and why, and he cheerfully and thoroughly answered every one. He has significantly raised my kokanee game. If you want to improve your fishing knowledge or simply want a great day on the water with family or friends, I highly recommend booking a trip with John at Seeking Limits. You'll be pleased you did.

Fish can get sunburned, as he probably told you, right through the clouds that magnify sun's rays- pp. 20. Laying them on a hot wood deck shortens times spent in pre rigor and/or rigor pp 17-18 ---https://seagrant.uaf.edu/lib/mab/45/cahos-salmon.pdf
Does he use a catch&release soft net- dark colored not to stress the fish. Ice in his live well to keep fish close to temps at depth where you found them- not surface water alone. Is the boat deck padded to reduce bruising from flopping while in the net- pp.20 Ice the fish right after cleaning them before the ride home- pp. I wouldn't personally buy a fish on the floor at the store.... sounds like a good guide from what you mentioned.
