After missing out on the annual Sun Lakes Resort trout derby on Park Lake last year was very excited to get back over this year to join in the festivities! It's a great event with all the proceeds going to cancer research we enjoy the trip over mothers day weekend to visit family and friends but due to the high winds none of them made it out this year so was just my wife and me.

I got up early to get a spot on the dock so the 25 to 40 mph winds were at our back and my wife came down around 7:45 to get ready for the 8am start. Was pretty slow but did get to see a kid catch a 6lb 3 oz brown off the dock that took first place in the 13-17 age bracket. Suddenly both our lines went downa and my wife and I had a double! As we were bringing it in the lines got closer and closer and lo and behold, this hungry fish swallowed both our power baits so we landed the same fish! Pretty funny too as it took second place for the largest fish in the adult category so we won and awesome array of goodies and my wife liked the bag that came with it!

After the awards made a run out to our favorite little lake, Deep lake before heading into Ephrata for a bbq with family and then off to Chelan for a couple days! Reports to follow!
