So I decided to head to Bonneville for the first time to fish for American shad with my friend Warren. We arrived around 5:45 in the morning to meet 100-200 of our closest friends. I noticed that people were really stacked toward the dam so I decided to fish just across from the outlet, east of the power lines. I noticed there were some discarded shad gills in the area I was planning on fishing. I thought this is a sign that Im in a decent spot. I tied on a 1/16th oz green and chartreuse dart and let it fly. First cast, no action, then on the 2nd cast I was hooked up! These shad put up a great fight for their size. I ended up hooking a bunch of them. I was glad I gave this fishery a try and hope to get back down there soon. Tight Lines!
