I wasn't expecting to post a report so soon. However sometimes really good fishing comes when you're not expecting it. Went to 9 mile rec area, hoping to find pike and LMB in those lillypads. After looking around on my depth finder, I decided to toss jigs at shore. Ned rigs and paddletails. Every other cast was a SMB.

I'd like to say my technique, sharp jig action with no slack on the drop, was a winning presentation. But my two biggest smallies came when I set my pole down to talk to a nearby boater or my gf.

When we returned to shore there were a lot of pros pulling in empty handed. Not sure what they were doing wrong.
