We got to the lake about 7:30am. There weren’t a lot of vehicles which was a BIG change from last year, covid year.

While prepping in the parking lot, at the back of the boat my son said to me “it must be your lucky day”. The fish finder was sitting on the Scotty tray. It rode all the way from Graham to Alder Lake Park without falling out of the boat.

We started fishing about 8am and went to 11am. By the time we left the lake was changing color. I had never seen this happen before. It looked like when the tide changes at the Puyallup in Puget Sound. There was a definite line between the colors.

I started to go toward the dam but there was a lot of debris so I went back toward the launch. The water temperature was 72-73 degrees. It was foggy the first couple hours with the air temp at 55 to start. After 10am a wind came up that made it chilly but was still manageable. Just before 11 the sun came out.

We were in mostly 35-80 feet of water going from 9-40 feet on the downrigger. Our speed was 1.1-1.6 mph. I used corn while my son used corn and worms. We didn’t see too many fish on the finder. We went through some but they didn’t bite. I got the kokanee (adipose intact) at 19-21 on the downrigger. My son got the perch at that depth by were I got my first. To get his trout he dropped it to 30 feet. From what I saw on the camera’s 10 foot visibility was minimal. At 30 feet down it was black. Which shows, to me, that fish can see/hear/smell to bite that lure in zero visibility.

The lake level was almost full (1207) at 1205.8 feet.
