So I had a old co-worker call me up and ask if I would take her son out fishing for salmon. She explained to me that he was going to be home on leave from the Army and really wanted to go fishing. Well, I only had one response for her and that was heck yeah let's do this! I met her son DJ in Tacoma and we headed up to shilshole. The plan was to get him on some resident coho. To my suprise he told me that he had never been on a boat or fishing in the Puget sound before. His only fishing experience was going for trout a handful of times. We started fishing north of the green can but did not see much life or any action. I decided to make a move to Jeff's head. We ended up hooking several fish. Getting them to the net became a challenge. I did not want to leave without this young man putting a fish in the boat. I stayed 2 hours longer then I planned but we finally accomplished the mission. I wont forget the look on his face when we boated his fish. He will be getting out of the military later this year and I invited him to come fishing when he does.
