Went fishing across the waste water treatment plant. Fished with sand shrimp and eggs. Also tried corky and yarn and spinners. Must have seen a dozen fish roll.

Well everyone, this has been the third fishing season of not catching salmon in the Nooksack. I am officially done fishing this river.

Try drifting a large pink Dick-Nite with a slip sinker or slinky I've caught alot of pinks and coho on that river with that setup. Good luck

Thanks for the advice I will give it a try before I throw in the towel. Ace was all out of pink but I got a chartreuse tip size two and a humpy special spoon that I plan to try sometime in the next week.

I will let you know how it goes!

Motley is right.
Tie a 3 way swivel on run a 12" dropper to 3/4" hollow core lead and a 5' leader to a dicknite I have caught fish outta the sack on that setup already this year.
Hasn't been much of a shrimp bite for me this year

How's the fishing been this last week of September? Pinks still in, any coho coming up?

I fish the Nooksack a lot and catch fish in there. It just requires a bit of patience, perseverance and timing is everything. I see people using super light leaders in the 6 to 12 lb range but I hook more fish than anyone I see on most days and I use heavy leader, typically 25 lb mono or 30 to 40 lb fluorocarbon. I switched to heavy line when a big king snapped my 20lb mono once, (not a fish I wanted to lose). 40 lb is great because if you snag your gear on something I can almost always pull it free, sometimes bending the hook out until it lets go and then I can just bend it back straight with pliers or sometimes I real in other peoples lines, weights and lures that they lost (which are almost always very light lines that they broke off). I occasionally hook fish on spinners but jigs seem to work best, color doesn’t seem to matter as long as it’s bright enough for them to see. This is a great river if you catch the run times right and put in the hours finding the fish and working the right water. Most fish I hook come on the first or second cast. If you have been hammering a spot with casts for hours and not getting bit you need to change your lure, presentation, or move locations.
