Sorry for not disclosing the location, but this was my first kokanee limit, so I need to protect the lake! Launched at about 6:30am and started marking fish immediately. I started with a wedding ring and maggots on one rod and a spin hoochie with corn on the other, but wasn’t getting bit. I switched to a plain hoochie with corn and that did the trick. Most fish were caught at 30ft deep in 50ft of water with a 25ft setback, but a few were caught on a shallow long line, including one of the big ones.

It was raining intermittently, but I covered my electronics with my jacket and figured I could stay out for a while that way. Luckily it only took until 8:30 to get my last fish, so I was out of the rain ahead of schedule.

Nice. I was the other boat on Deep lake, the Hews. I didn't do as well. Thanks for sharing what you were using.

Haha! I think the "secret" is out (Deep Lake). But no worries my friend, one thing about kokanee: they tend to do pretty well even in spite of heavy fishing pressure. Merwin, Yale and especially Roosevelt lakes are all good examples of this, they get lots of pressure but the fishing remains constantly good from year to year. Way to go on the limit, hopefully that's the only the beginning of future success. Tight lines!

This was not Deep Lake, but I would love to try there. I camped there once but wasn’t able to fish due to weather.
