Headed out for some late season trout fishing with one of my little fishermen. I gave him a list of local lakes we could try and his choice was Lake Tye. We haven’t fished it in awhile and were looking forward to seeing what we could catch. We arrived around 10:00 am - the weather was partly sunny and the water was 61 degrees. We tried a variety of different baits/spoons but couldn’t get the fish to bite. We headed to the far end of the lake (closest to Hwy 2) where we marked a couple schools of large fish at around 15 - 20 ft. but we also saw a few at more shallow depths. We tried different speeds- 1 mph and under. We had a nice hit on a bubblegum mouse tail and my son had a blast feeling it in. It was a fat 14 1/2 inch holdover bow with beautiful red meat! That was our only catch of the day but we had fun and enjoyed the memories we made.
