The wind forecast for Friday was tame; so, we pulled the boat over to Rock. After we launched, we headed to the north end and trolled east-to-west in front of the stream that enters the lake. We varied the cable depth on the downriggers from 20 to 30 feet. And, we fished one long-line rod from the center of the stern. (That rod had a 1.5oz trolling weight followed by a small flasher and an OG1). Our trolling speeds varied from just under 2mph to 2.5mph. It seemed like the slower speeds were more effective.
Between the three of us, we kept 11 trout: one brown and 10 bows. (They're brining now and should be in the smoker soon.) We released quite a few smaller fish that needed to grow another year.
The most effective lure was our 2.8" OG1 in green perch. This was followed by the 2.44" OG1 in black with a fluoro-pink tail.
All in all, a good day on the water!
