I went out with Glenn and another buddy to the Arm. We decided to try a couple of the main points in Porcupine Bay like Blue creek and Laphams. It took about 5 minutes to get the first eyes in the live well. I got to watch the guys put about 15 keepers in the boat before I could get my first one in the boat. I felt like ballast for the first 30 minutes. Eventually I started to contribute to the cause. Jigs and blade baits worked best. The bite was good for about 2 hours and by 1100 we couldn't hardly get a bite. 35 to 55 FOW was the best depths. We boated about 50 eyes and cleaned 34. Glenn also caught 2 stud perch that looked ready to spawn. Both were released.

Way to go! You are going to get me fired up about going after some Walleye. How was the launch area? Pretty scary when I was there last.

The launch is fine. There's plenty of sand for grip. We just need the other boaters to stop their trailers at the waters edge and let their trailers drain for 20 seconds. That will help keep the ice down.

Awesome report, I'm always impressed with how you find fish, how many years have you been fishing the arm?

17 now and I still have not tried all of the areas. It can be hard to explore different areas when you already have places that are productive. That can work for or against you. Every year I try to experiment with different lures. Jigging raps and casting spoons can be very productive under the right circumstances.

Thank you for the report. Have you tried Swawilla this time of year? I am thinking about trying it in a couple weeks.
