All I can say is wow!!!!! I went to the Cowlitz river to try smelt dipping for the first time. I could not believe how many Washingtonian's participate in this fishery. We arrived at the river and it was a total circus of happy people. I must say I came with a net that was a bit short in handle length. A gentleman that was parked next to us was gracious enough to share a spare wooden rod he brought with him and a few hose clamps. In short order we fashioned a pretty decent net handle extension to get the job done. The dipping was fast and the 10lb limit was achieved. My buddy Lonzo took me for fish n chips at Captian Yoby's and we finished our trip down south with a visit to Bob's sporting goods. Fun times were had with memories made. I hope to do this again in the future. Tight lines!
