I took Glenn and Mike out to someplace and caught some fish. Can't say where anymore because I am apparently personally responsible for the decline in the number of eyes in Lake Roosevelt. Funny thing is we are still catching a good number and they are of better quality than in the past. Thinning some out has actually been producing healthier and fatter eyes. When I started fishing here 18 years ago I was shocked at how thin, almost transparent the eyes were. No longer the case.

OMG....you have to be kidding me. I don't fish Rosy as much as I did in years past but started there in 1969 after getting out of the service. I live through your reports to keep my spirits up on the walleyes there. The lake is 100+ miles long and they are everywhere so if someone has his nose out of joint because you share you success tough s**t!! Like its a big secret that the Spokane arm has a spawning run up it........every year at the same time....duh! Your posts help the newbies and old guys like me get a little better feel for what's happening die. There so I /we can plan our limited trips today productive area at a productive time.

Thank you and keep the reports coming.

Bradf I will continue to post, just being a smarta$$ It would take a lot more than a couple of knuckleheads to make me stop. We caught all of our eyes on jigs. It's the Arm in Spring, using jigs is a no-brainer. There are no more boats now than when they used to close the Arm. Look for back eddies and current seams. It is that simple. If you don't get bit, change colors or change locations. We have been hitting an average of 10 different areas looking for eyes. Yesterday I only caught one eye in the first two hours. I didn't give up. I moved my boat around and tried half a dozen different jig combos till I found one that worked for me. Mike and Glenn were using completely different colors and they had success with those. I probably ended up catching a dozen or so and even released a couple of 21.5 inch hens. We caught 30 and cleaned 23. We also released half a dozen trout up to 4 lbs. Life is good.

Now I’m confused your last post you said,” everyone has the right to speak their mind just don’t bore you with an inability to have an adult conversation” now your calling people names? Let’s be adult then.
The friendly post made was hey just be careful what ya post, your giving away a lot of other people’s peace and solitude in fishing. I have heard people mention at the lake they are only hear because of the posts. I know of people coming over from Seattle (which you again called names of “talking heads”) because of your posts. So yes you are effecting what once was. You seem like a nice enough guy and Appear you are for helping people as am I, however help the ones close to you. Not the pacific NW. Feel free to email me. I’d be happy to talk with you if you won’t resort to name calling. I’m all about adult conversation. Have a good day

Mark, I am all with Brad there, your posts keep me going get me off the couch and out there. The only problem I can see with me catching more Walleye is the dipstick running the rod.
Stay after them, it's the right thing to do.

Chev, I consider myself a knucklehead most of the time so it's nothing personal. There seemed to be more people coming here to fish in the past from all over the PNW. This time of year the campground at Porcupine Bay used to be full, today no one was camping there. The current fuel prices are probably going to limit the number of people coming here from far away. It would be far cheaper to just go buy fish from Costco. Catching eyes on the Arm is not that easy even this time of year. If I can help someone improve their odds of being successful then I will continue to post. Everyone should realize I am purposely vague on the exact places we fish because otherwise there would be 20 boats in area where 2 or 3 fit. At the launch Glenn and I over the years have given away lots of fillets, jigs, grubs and swimbaits to folks who have struggled to catch eyes. We have also told them exactly where we were.

Totally disagree. The arm isn’t that big and constant posting isn’t helping preserve it. What I do agree with is your kindness to people. We need more of it. It’s America and God bless it. Everyone is free to do or post anything they want I suppose. It’s our free choice. Just asking you ponder that it cold have an impact. I wish you well all the same

I don't post often at all. I like Marks posts and his vague description of where he fishes. I've fished the arm once with friends. We caught some. Thing is, people can complain that he spotlights an area they feel should be kept on the low down. I feel the same way when Tyler Hicks spotlights a kokanee fishery I like to visit. But chances are, most who visit any location based on a report may be searching in more ways than one. I don't think WALLEYEMARK1 or SPILTMILT worry about a little competition, nor do I for the most part. And I don't think a few extra fish kept from certain fisheries is anything but good.

It is a public resource. Anyone and everyone who would like to catch some fish should have an opportunity. I agree with Mark that fishing Lake Roosevelt isn't that easy and there is lots of room for many people to fish, always a new spot and a new opportunity. That being said everyone should pay attention to preserving the resource by adhering to the regulations, Beyond that fish-on.

There are so many places to catch fish on Roosevelt. I have tried areas that Mark has suggested before and had little to no luck, but I have taken some of his tips and suggestions to go and find new areas on my own and have found a ton of success. One thing I wish I was as good at or as patient at is jigging and casting jigs. I catch a few fish on them, but then I lose my patience and go back to trolling harnesses, which works, but is not as fun as jigging. Thanks for all of your reports Mr. Mark!
